Road Roller

Roller Training Overview

The Road Roller Course consists of both theory and practical instruction.

By the end of this Road Roller course of training, the trainee operator should be able to answer questions on and perform the following:

  • A basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator
  • A working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used
  • The ability to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions
  • The ability to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions
  • How to conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with e requirements (what is e requirements?)
  • How to Identify and maintain PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) appropriate for roller use
  • How to prepare Road Roller for use
  • How to conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area
  • How to operate machinery safely and efficiently
  • The ability to factor in Environmental considerations
  • The ability to demonstrate knowledge of loading and unloading procedures for machine transportation
  • How to carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures

Road Roller Certification

  • NPORS Plastic identity card with photo, this card is issued by NPORS
  • Certification for this course is valid for 3 years. To remain certified in this area, you will need to retake the course before the expiry date
